DAY 2: Puno / Lake Titicaca

Day tour to Taquile Island, Chucuito and Uros
A full day tour to explore Lake Titicaca. We depart from Puno pier towards Taquile Island, a place in which the settlers still maintain their ancestral traditions and colorful typical clothes. A great opportunity to explore the island and get the best view of the lake. Then it’s off to Chucuito Peninsula for an exclusive lunch in Luquina with the Aymara community of Luquina Chico. This allows us to enrich our experience of Lake Titicaca and become familiar with other sites that are less visited by tourists. In the afternoon, on our way back to Puno, we’ll visit the Uros. There are around 40 scattered islands built with totora reed (an aquatic plant), constituting an important archipelago inhabited by 10 to 20 families. At 3,810 M.A.S.L. we will visit one of the islands to appreciate the unique beauty of the place, as well as the culture and lifestyle of the locals of millenary origin. Even today they keep their ancestral traditions, with a large Aymara influence, all linked to the totora reed. The subsistence of the Uros is based on fishing, hunting and gathering of eggs, complementing their economy with the sale of handicrafts. Return to Puno at the end of the tour.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch

DAY 3: Depart Puno

Breakfast at the hotel. At the arranged time we will go to the airport to board the departing flight. On the way there we will visit the pre-Inca cemetery of the Hatun Colla chiefs in Sillustani, on the shore of Lake Umayo.
