ITINERARY

DAY 1: USA/Lima

Arrival in Lima (L)
Welcome reception at the airport and transfer to your hotel. Private services with English speaking guide.

DAY 2: Lima (B)

Private combined tour of Colonial and Modern Lima and the Larco Museum
Breakfast at hotel. This morning, our guide will pick us up to show us the highlights of Lima on a half day tour. We will drive along the main streets, plazas and avenues of the city. We will start at the “Parque del Amor” in Miraflores with a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean. Then, we will have a panoramic view of Huaca Pucllana, a ceremonial center the ancient Lima culture; and in San Isidro, the financial center of the city, we will see Huaca Huallamarca, an ancient pre-Inca shrine. We will then continue to the Main Square, where we will find the Government Palace and the City Hall. We will visit the Cathedral and explore the Santo Domingo Convent, along which corridors San Martin de Porres and San Rosa de Lima used to walk around in 17th century, and where their remains rest today. Finally, the Larco Museum will be awaiting us. This is a mansion built on top of a pre-Columbian pyramid of the 7th century. There we will find treasures that have been exhibited in the most prestigious museums of the world and it is organized according to techniques. The storeroom and the unique display of erotic pottery of pre-Columbian times are the highlights. Afternoon at leisure

DAY 3: Lima/Paracas – Nazca Lines (B)

Breakfast at hotel. Early departure to Paracas Bay in the exclusive “Paracas Premium Service”. We will go the airport of Pisco to fly over the Nazca lines, huge drawing that can only be seen from the sky and which represent several insects and animals like a monkey, hummingbird, condor or a spider. The origins are unknown, while many think it is a big astronomic calendar. Return to airport and transfer to your hotel. Free rest of the day to enjoy the hotel facilities and surrounding areas.

DAY 4: Ballestas Islands and transfer back to /Lima (B)

Breakfast at hotel. Early in the morning we will embark on a boat tour to the Ballesta Islands. The “Chandelier” a giant figure marked in the sand in the style of the Nazca lines can also be seen on our way to the islands. On the islands you will be able to observe sea lions, pelicans, Humboldt penguins and other sea birds. In the afternoon, departure to Lima in the exclusive “Paracas Premium Service”.

DAY 5: Lima/Cusco/Sacred Valley (B/L)

Private Pisac Market and Peruvian dancing horses show
Breakfast at hotel. Early transfer to airport to catch our flight to Cusco. Upon arrival we will be transferred to the Sacred Valley of the Incas for a better acclimatization process. Before heading for the hotel, we will stop briefly at the traditional market, with enough free time to go around, see the typical produces and buy handcraft. We will take a few minutes to relax and taste a delicious empanada (filled pastry) or a piece of bread freshly made in stone ovens. Once we are all checked-in the exquisite Tambo del Inca Luxury Collection, we will head for the Wayra restaurant. La Terraza is the most informal room at Wayra, where we will get rid of all our pretentions to conciliate our proposal with the awesome environment that surrounds us: an overwhelming display of color and contrast brought by the mountains, the popular art, the mural paintings and the inspiring garden. This is the background to a peaceful lunch that combines the delights of the valley with the glamour of the dancing Peruvian horses and the marinera dance (dances may vary). Afternoon at leisure to enjoy the hotel facilities. An optional spa session is highly recommended. Meditation and shaman sessions are also available at extra cost.

DAY 6: Sacred Valley (B/L)

Private Chinchero Market and Ollantaytambo Fortress
Breakfast at hotel. Our day starts in Chinchero, a beautiful town and archaeological site where we will get to see a short exhibit of traditional textiles, a distinctive feature of this town dedicated to following ancestral dyeing techniques to create high quality works of art. Our trip continues in Moray, a place with a breathtaking view thanks to its colossal concentric terraces resembling a coliseum. What did they use it for? The terraces recreated 20 different types of microclimates, and they were studied to ensure the agricultural production of the empire. After lunch at a countryside restaurant we will continue our journey to Maras, the millenary colonial salt mines. The contrast of the white pools against the green valley is so impressive that it resembles a postcard. Our last stop: Ollantaytambo, a small town full of local color and inhabited since Inca times in which we will visit the main temple used as a fortress during the Inca resistance. Breathtaking views for amazing pictures.

DAY 7: Sacred Valley/Machu Picchu/Cusco (B/L)

Guided day tour to Machu Picchu
Breakfast at hotel. Departure to the Ollantaytambo Station, a train trip away to see one of the Seven Wonders of the World. We arrive at the Aguas Calientes station where our staff will assist us on boarding the bus to go up the winding road to Machu Picchu, amid a spectacular view of the Urubamba River and its canyon. The Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu, will astonish us with its terraces, ceremonial shrines, steps and urban areas. Energy is all around us. After a guided visit, we will have time to explore the fortress and have lunch at Tinkuy Sanctuary’s Lodge restaurant. At the arranged time, we will board the train back to Cusco. Transfer to hotel.

DAY 8: Cusco (B/L)

Combined Cusco city tour and nearby ruins
Breakfast at hotel. Tour of Cusco -Visitors are caught up in the excitement of touring the ancient capital of the Inca Empire, a delightful combination of Inca and colonial architecture. Our tour guide is available to take us around the city of Cusco at our own pace, exploring the city on foot to get us into less explored places as well as visiting the city’s main attractions and the Sacsayhuaman archaeological park. At noon, we will stop for a lunch tasting at MAP Café. Afternoon at leisure.

DAY 9: Cusco/Lima/Home (B)

Breakfast at hotel. At the arranged time, transfer to the airport for your departure to Lima. Upon arrival at airport for your international departure.
