ITINERARY
DAY 1: Welcome to Nicaragua!
Meet & Greet at the International Airport in Managua,, follow by Private Transfer to your hotel in Managua City which is approximately 30 minutes driving distance

DAY 2: Managua City Tour – Matagalpa (B/L)
Breakfast at the hotel, before heading to Selva Negra, your tour guide will take for Managua city tour which includes visits to Acahualinca Indian tracks, Ruben Dario Theater, Peace Park and other interesting places part of the latest history of Nicaragua, typical lunch at local restaurant in Managua and then continues to Matagalpa area.
The city of Matagalpa is located 80 miles north of the city of Managua at an altitude of 2,234 ft. ASL, which makes its climate pleasant and cool. Matagalpa is known as the Septentrional Pearl for its natural characteristics, and as the Capital City of Production, for its diversity of commercial and agricultural activities, especially its coffee, considered one of the world’s best.
The people of Matagalpa have indigenous background, they come from the native “Matagalpa” village, to which Spaniards and other European immigrants later joined.
The economy of Matagalpa is based on agricultural production and coffee is its high-end product, since it is Nicaragua’s main export product. Cacao, beans, corn, vegetables and floriculture are also produced.
Matagalpa’s main attractions are ecotourism, agro-tourism, and adventure tourism. National and private Wildlife reserves are also a main attraction, where hiking and exploring the wide variety of intact flora and fauna is an adventure. Among these reserves is Selva Negra private wildlife reserve where you will spend 2 nights.

DAY 3: Selva Negra Hacienda Tour and Coffee Tour (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. The Selva Negra Sustainable Farm Tour is a must during your visit to Selva Negra. It is recognized for pioneering innovative and sustainable farming methods. In this tour by truck, you will see many of these sustainable farming methods that have gained it this reputation. You will pass by the organic laboratory, the worker’s housing, the greenhouses, cheese house, chicken coops, and stables where you will learn about the food being served at the restaurant.
Then you will continue with the Coffee specialized visit, where you will learn much more than just the process of coffee. History, location, climate, topography, sustainable use of bio products and the social programs are among the many other things you will learn. The tour will continue to the picking and weighing of the coffee beans, you will follow the truck back to the wet mill where you will witness the process and end the tour in our museum with a cup of coffee to answer any questions remaining.

DAY 4: Selva Negra / Granada (B/L)
Breakfast at the hotel. En route visit Masaya Volcano & Artisan Market. The Masaya Volcano is Nicaragua’s first national park, established in 1979. The park includes a beautiful volcanic lake known as the “Masaya lagoon”. Upon arrival, we will witness all the influence that volcanic activities have had in the shaping of the zone. Only ten minutes from the entrance we will be able to visit the environmental interpretation center, a museum where we can see a model of the park. See paintings of Nicaraguan artists concerning the history of the volcano. Learn about the tectonic plates and volcanic regions of the planet. We will get to know about the flora and fauna of this wildlife refuge. We will continue our trip to the summit of this volcano, where we will get off our vehicle and walk a few steps to see the Santiago crater, active since 1946.
Just fifteen minutes away we will visit the Masaya arts and crafts market for local ceramics, hammocks wood and leather souvenirs. Lunch at Local Restaurant in Masaya. Afterwards we continue to Granada City.

DAY 5: Granada Boat Ride on Nicaragua Lake, Granada for City Tour (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. . Today you will start your day with a relaxing boat ride around some of the islands formed by the impressive Mombacho volcano. See the volcanic evidence and influence of the area. Enjoy great landscape views and wildlife and of course have a chance to take pictures.
Then you will continue with the Colonial city of Granada that was founded by Captain Francisco Hernandez de Cordoba in the year 1524, it was founded next to the Mombacho volcano and the great lake of Nicaragua. You will have a sightseeing tour to arrive later to the main plaza for our walking tour of the surrounding area. You will see the famous “Casa de Los Tres Mundos” and the San Francisco convent. Here, we will have the opportunity to see and take pictures of mysterious idols made by our ancestors. This is an impressive collection of genuine pre-Columbian sculptures in human and animal shapes. Due to the historical and cultural value of the city, it is in the process of being declared heritage of mankind by UNESCO.

DAY 6: Mombacho Volcano Nature Reserve (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. For the visit, our vehicle will lead the way to the foot of the mountain where we will get in touch with the park keepers. Then we will switch vehicles and start our way up to the top on a four wheel drive. The adventure begins on a paved road and right from the start we will be surprised by the biodiversity of this natural reserve. Surrounded by exuberant vegetation and enjoying breathtaking views. When we reach the summit, we will understand why this ecosystem is a cloud forest. The park keeper will give instructions to everyone so we can enjoy our visit. We will then take the trails of the volcano to learn a lot about the flora, the fauna, the ancient people who lived there and the Vulcan logy of the area. If the day is clear enough, we will visit an impressive viewpoint to observe the plain Pacific region of Nicaragua.
