ITINERARY

DAY 1: Arrival in Rio de Janeiro

Private transfer in from airport to hotel. Our uniformed bi-lingual guide will meet all passengers right after customs clearance. The transfer takes approximately 45 minutes depending on the traffic conditions on the day. On route, our guides will give basic briefs about the city and their respective hotel.

DAY 2: Rio de Janeiro (B/L)

Full day Corcovado and Sugar Loaf with BBQ lunch
Breakfast at the hotel. Depart from the hotel after breakfast to visit the most famous landmarks of the city and see the natural beauty of Rio de Janeiro from up above. After a scenic drive along Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, passengers arrive at the bottom of the Corcovado Hill. Embark on a comfortable train that ascends the mountain, where the statue of Christ the Redeemer is located 2,300 ft above sea level. The Christ statue, known as the “wonder of Rio”, was recently elected one of the 7 “New Wonders of the World”. Upon arrival at the top, guests can use the panoramic elevators or escalators to arrive at the foot of the statute. There, passengers can enjoy a panoramic view of Rio de Janeiro and discover why it is called the “Marvelous City”. Afterwards, descend the mountain and stop for a delicious Brazilian Barbecue lunch.

Over a million tourists each year visit the world famous ‘Pão de Açúcar’, (Sugar Loaf Mountain), which has become an iconic symbol of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Rising up from a small peninsula at the entrance of Guanabara Bay, its name is said to refer to its resemblance to the traditional shape of a concentrated, refined sugar loaf. The journey to the top is made in glass cable-cars. The first cable-car takes passengers to the top of Urca Hill, which rises 215 meters above sea level and offers spectacular views of the entire bay and its surrounding islands.

From Urca Hill, passengers continue in a second cable-car to the top of Sugar Loaf which rises 395 meters above sea level and offers a 360 degree view of the entire city including Botafogo and Copacabana Beaches, Corcovado Mountain and downtown Rio de Janeiro.
Duration: Approximately 8 hours. Brazilian style BBQ lunch.

DAY 3: Rio de Janeiro (B)

Day at leisure
Breakfast at the hotel. Free day to continue discovering the city on your own or just enjoy the beaches.

DAY 4: Rio de Janeiro / Manaus (B/L/D)

Amazon Ecopark Lodge
Three Day / Two Night Program
Breakfast at the hotel. Private transfer out from hotel to airport for your flight to Manaus. Transfers and excursions in Manaus on a shared basis. Activities do not necessarily follow this order and the arrangements of the tours may be changed by the lodge on arrival.

Reception upon arrival at the airport. Transfer to Amazon Ecopark with English speaking guide. After accommodation you will visit the Monkey Forest. The duration of the tour of the center will be about 40 minutes to 1 hour. After lunch, visit to a native’s house. You will depart from the lodge on a boat or motorized canoe. After visiting the native’s house some fishing may be done. Return to the lodge for dinner and then a night tour in canoe, with the possibility to spot small alligators (or other nightly creatures).

DAY 5: Manaus – Ecopark Lodge (B/L/D)

After breakfast, you will depart for a tour of Meeting of the Waters , the spectacular merge of Negro and Solimões Rivers. The phenomenon happens due to differences in temperature, density and speed of the waters of the rivers. Continue the trip on the Amazon River to the Island of ” Terra Nova ” where lunch will be served in a typical restaurant (rustic yet clean restaurant with buffet style, international and regional dishes). Depending on the level of the waters, a visit to a typical ” caboclo ” (local inhabitants) villa will be included (at Terra Nova Island) during this full day tour. This visit will happen prior or after lunch.

DAY 6: Depart Manaus (B)

After breakfast, if time allows guests will go on a nature hike. During the tour, the guide will lead clients and educate them about the local flora/fauna, how and where to find edible fruits and potable water, first aid, how to find their way in the forest and much more. The duration of this hike will be one to three hours, depending on health conditions of the participants. Following will be lunch if time permits, then transfer back to Manaus and the airport for your flight back to USA or your next destination.
